Collection: Rosa Adair

Adair grew up sailing with her family along a stretch of rocky coastline, and those early years on the water shaped a lasting fascination with movement — waves, wind, shifting light on water — that now drives her paintings. Rather than depicting specific coastal scenes, she works to capture the energy of a place: fast, layered brushwork, active compositions, and a strong sense of motion across the canvas. She often paints outdoors when weather allows, working quickly to catch a particular quality of light or wind before it changes, then finishes pieces back in the studio. She describes her process as "chasing something that's already moving," and says the goal isn't accuracy but momentum — a painting that feels like it's still in motion even once it's finished.
